Turkey is a transcontinental country located in both Europe and Asia. The total area of Turkey is 783,562 square kilometers, with a coastline of 8,333 km. The highest point in the country is Mount Ararat at 5,137 meters above sea level. This mountain peak provides spectacular views of the surrounding landscape and is a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers alike. The country also contains several large rivers such as the Tigris River which flows through Eastern Turkey and empties into the Persian Gulf. There are also several large lakes such as Lake Van near the Turkish-Armenian border which is one of Turkey’s largest lakes. The climate in Turkey varies depending on location but generally consists of warm temperatures year-round with monsoons during certain times of year. The country experiences two seasons: dry season from April to October; and wet season from November to March. During these months temperatures can range from 4°C (39°F) in January to 32°C (90°F) in August with humidity levels over 80%. The terrain in Turkey consists mostly of coastal plains, hills, mountains, plateaus, and valleys.
