Poland is a country located in Central Europe, bordered by Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania. It is known for its diverse geography which consists of many different regions including the Carpathian Mountains, the Baltic Sea Coast and the Masurian Lake District. The Carpathian Mountains are located in the southern part of Poland and consist mostly of high mountains with some areas having higher elevations up to 2,500 meters above sea level. This area has a temperate continental climate with temperatures ranging from -10-20 degrees Celsius throughout the year. It also contains several natural forests which are home to many species of birds and other wildlife. The Baltic Sea Coast is located in the northern part of Poland and consists mostly of flat plains with some areas having higher elevations up to 200 meters above sea level. This area has a humid continental climate with temperatures ranging from -5-25 degrees Celsius throughout the year. It also contains several large lakes such as Lake Łebsko which is home to numerous species of fish and other aquatic life. The Masurian Lake District is located in the eastern part of Poland and consists mostly of lowlands with some areas having higher elevations up to 500 meters above sea level. This area has a temperate continental climate with temperatures ranging from -10-20 degrees Celsius throughout the year. It also contains several rivers such as the Vistula River which forms part of its eastern border with Belarus and Ukraine.
