The Philippines is a country located in Southeast Asia, bordered by the South China Sea, the Philippine Sea and the Celebes Sea. It is known for its diverse geography which consists of many different regions including the Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao islands. The Luzon region consists mostly of high mountains and rolling hills with some areas having higher elevations up to 2,500 meters above sea level. This area has a tropical climate with temperatures ranging from 25-35 degrees Celsius throughout the year. It also contains several active volcanoes such as Mount Pinatubo which last erupted in 1991 as well as many rivers which form part of its western border with Taiwan. The Visayas region is located in the central part of the Philippines and consists mostly of flat plains with some areas having higher elevations up to 1,000 meters above sea level. This area has a tropical climate with temperatures ranging from 20-30 degrees Celsius throughout the year. It also contains several large lakes such as Lake Taal which is home to many species of fish and other aquatic life. The Mindanao region is located in the southernmost part of the Philippines and consists mostly of lowlands with some areas having higher elevations up to 3,000 meters above sea level. This area has a tropical climate with temperatures ranging from 25-35 degrees Celsius throughout the year. It also contains several mountain ranges such as Mount Apo which is home to numerous species of birds and other wildlife.
