Namibia is a country located in Southern Africa, bordered by Angola, Botswana, South Africa, and Zambia. It has an area of 824,269 square kilometers making it the 34th largest country in the world. Namibia’s terrain is mostly desert with several peaks over 2000 meters above sea level. The highest point in Namibia is Konigstein at 2573 meters above sea level. The climate in Namibia can be described as semi-arid with average temperatures ranging from 21°C in October to 32°C in January. Rainfall typically occurs between November and April but can vary significantly from year to year. The rainy season commonly lasts from February to March when cyclones and floods may occur. The main river flowing through Namibia is the Orange which forms part of its eastern border with South Africa and Botswana. There are also several smaller rivers such as Kunene, Okavango and Zambezi that flow through parts of Namibia’s interior regions.
