Morocco is a North African country located in the Maghreb region, bordered by Algeria, Western Sahara and Mauritania. It has an area of 446,550 square kilometers making it the 54th largest country in the world. Morocco’s terrain is mostly mountainous with numerous peaks over 3000 meters above sea level. The highest point in Morocco is Jbel Toubkal at 4167 meters above sea level. The climate in Morocco can be described as Mediterranean with average temperatures ranging from 7°C in January to 24°C in July. Rainfall typically occurs between November and March but can vary significantly from year to year. Snowfall commonly occurs during the winter months between December and February, especially at higher elevations. The main river flowing through Morocco is the Draa which forms part of its eastern border with Algeria. There are also several smaller rivers such as Sebou, Tensift and Moulouya that flow through parts of Morocco’s interior regions.
