Grenada is a small island nation located in the southeastern Caribbean Sea. It has a total land area of 344 square kilometers which consists of several volcanic islands and islets. The terrain of Grenada is mostly mountainous with its highest point being Mount St. Catherine at 840 meters above sea level. The majority of Grenada’s population lives in towns and villages such as St. George’s, Gouyave and Sauteurs. The climate in Grenada is mostly tropical with temperatures ranging from 25°C during winter months (Jan-Mar) to around 31°C during summer months (May-Aug). Rainfall varies across different parts with wetter areas receiving up to 2,500mm annually while drier areas receive around 1,500mm each year. Grenada is known for its lush rainforests which covers approximately two thirds of its total land area. This includes numerous rivers and waterfalls which are home to a wide variety of wildlife including monkeys, iguanas and parrots. There are also over 200 species of birds found in Grenada including some rare species such as the Grenada dove and white-tailed nightjar.
