Bosnia and Herzegovina is a small country located in the western Balkans region of southeastern Europe. It has an area of 19,741 square miles, making it the 125th largest country in the world. Bosnia and Herzegovina is bordered by Croatia, Montenegro and Serbia. The landscape of Bosnia and Herzegovina is mostly mountainous with two-thirds of its terrain covered by mountains such as Maglic at 7,828 feet (2,386 meters) and Vlasic at 6,926 feet (2,111 meters). The mountains are blanketed with snow during winter months while other areas have lush vegetation and wildlife including brown bears, wolves, deer and lynx. The coastline of Bosnia and Herzegovina is short but provides plenty of opportunities for fishing and other water activities such as kayaking, snorkeling, diving and sailing. The climate of Bosnia and Herzegovina is moderate with warm temperatures year-round. Average temperatures range between 32°F (0°C) during winter months to 79°F (26°C) during summer months.
