Mauritius: Port Louis

The capital of Mauritius is called Port Louis. Once founded by the British, it is now a modern city. 170,000 people live here. There is a citadel, the UNESCO heritage site Aapravasi Ghat and a museum where an unstamped copy of the famous postage stamp, the Blue Mauritius, can be admired. The city’s port is also important, as it is a transshipment point for many goods imported from or into the country.
