According to the 2010 Census, Colorado has 5,029,196 residents, of which 81.3% are white, 4% are black or African-American, 2.8% are Asian-Americans and 1.1% are Indians, and others are 7.2%. 20.7% describe themselves as Hispanics. In 2017 the population was estimated at 5,607,154.
With a population growth of around 8.4% (USA: 5.3%) from the census in April 2000 to July 2005, Colorado was above the national average. It is expected to have more than seven million residents by 2030.
Colorado’s largest city with around 600,000 residents is the state capital Denver, which is also the economic and cultural center of the state.
